Concept Statement Project
>employers
>peers
>family members
>friends
.What will each of those users want to see in order to enjoy their visit to your site?
They will want to see a sampling of my work that I have completed while at school and also see what other creative things I am working on.
.Name your intended audience (the person(s) you need to persuade.)
My intended audience would be my current employer and coworkers and eventually future employers. I want to show them that I have the skills needed in interior design to be an asset to their company.
.Describe what you need to inform and persuade them of:
Promote my: interior design skills as well as my creative abilities.
Goals of the site are: to gain a full time career position
My ultimate message/philosophy (about who you are): is that design is part of everyday life and it helps us all to function productively and efficiently while adding style and elegance to a space.
What is the story you are telling? I am telling anyone who views my site that I am a great designer who loves what she does and is willing to work hard to persue that passion.
.Write a 200 word concept statement based on the user, your persuasion, navigation and the assets.
I am building this website to show my current and future employers that I am a passionate and talented interior designer that would be an asset to any design team. I want to show that I have design skills by making a clear and concise website showcasing my creative works. It is important that my work stands out so a simple background with a touch of elegance will be enough to get my point across. As a person browses my site, they will see drafting projects, CAD projects, design development skills, renderings, as well as some other creative hobbies such as knitting, jewelry making, painting, and photography. I want to show that I am a versatile designer and am willing to do anything that an employer would need me to do. I will really push my strengths such as my CAD work to show that I am proficient in this area of design. I also need to make the site easy to navigate because my current employer is not too current with technology so I need to be able to guide her to what she needs to see. I want to show her that I have skills she can add to her company.
.List the assets you need to persuade the user: Which 7 (minimum) projects? scans of what?, photos of what objects? images from what computer graphics program? what descriptive text? list them.

Notes: Describe the purposes of each site reviewed below. (Include whether it was easy to determine the purpose:
| Example of Poorly Designed Site >>> | ||
| Design feature | Support your choices with specific features of the site. | |
| URL of site #1:http://robertbrowninteriordesign.com/Artist.asp?ArtistID=17261&Akey=STJMS9E5 | ||
| Text | Site #1:The navigation text is small and hard to read. It also doesn’t have enough contrast to pop off the white background. Some text is in all caps and seems like yelling.
| |
| Navigation | Site #1:The Nav is along the bottom of the page and the sub menus are along the right hand side. The side navigation only has thumbnail images that are very small and hard to view. | |
| Links | Site #1:The only links are from the nav bars. The roll over turns a box around it grey. | |
| Graphics | Site #1:The thumbnails that you use to navigate are too small. The gallery images are not labled and I don’t know what they are. | |
| General Design | Site #1: The site is simple, which is good, but there isn't a lot of content that sets it apart from other websites. The text is small and hard to read. | |

| Examples of Well Designed Sites >>> | ||
| Design feature | Support your choices with specific features of the site. | |
| URL of site #1:http://www.browndesigninc.com/portfolio.html | ||
| URL of site #2: http://www.wallpaper.com/interiors | ||
| Text | Site #1:The text is a good size to read and there is enough contrast from the background to be legible. | |
| Site #2: The text is a little small, but easy to find what you were looking for. | ||
| Navigation | Site #1:The nav is along the left side with text that is large enough to read. The links are easy to navigate and takes you to where you want to go. | |
| Site #2: The navigation is easy to understand and the layout features the articles that you can browse through. | ||
| Links | Site #1: The links are easy to follow. I knew where I was going when I clicked on them. They even had a way to link back to the pages. When you click on the blog, there is a link to take you back to the site's homepage. | |
| Site #2: Links are bolder than other text and turned red when you roll over them. | ||
| Graphics | Site #1: The graphics are large enough to understand. They are labeled by room so you know what you are looking at in that gallery. | |
| Site #2: The graphics are clear and are a good size. | ||
| General Design | Site #1: The overall design is tasteful and doesn't distract from the content. | |
| Site #2: The overall design is clean and well laid out. It appeals to the user. | ||
